BYD, China's largest new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, began pre-sales of two new models and let a new model debut at the Chengdu auto show.
BYD held a pre-sale launch of the Seal DM-i on the first day of the Chengdu auto show, which is offered in six variants with a starting price of RMB 176,800- RMB 246,800.
This year's Chengdu auto show is being held at the Western China International Expo City and will run until September 3, with August 25 as media day. All of BYD's brands are in Hall 3, with the BYD brand's booth located at H301.
BYD renamed the Chaser 07 the Seal DM-i on July 14, seemingly hoping to capitalize on the Seal's greater popularity. Originally launched in China on July 29, 2022, the BYD Seal is a battery electric vehicle (BEV) and is seen as one of the strongest rivals to the Tesla Model 3 in China.
The Seal DM-i is a B+ sedan with a length, width and height of 4,980 millimeters, 1,890 millimeters and 1,495 millimeters, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,900 millimeters. The model's NEDC pure electric range on battery power is 121 km and 200 km respectively.
The first production cars of the Seal DM-i rolled off the production line on July 19 at BYD's manufacturing facility in Zhengzhou, Henan province in central China.
